Cr2 were quick to seal the deal with Andy Chatterley for his awesome underground track 'Access The Future' which was made Essential New Tune on Friday 14th Nov by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. Look out for the full release on Cr2 along with brand new mixes early in 2009.
Andy Chatterley will also be on remix duties for Cr2's forthcoming 100th release - 'The Fly' by Steve Mac & Mark Brown.
You can hear a sneak preview on Youtube HERE
'The Fly' is a broody, atmospheric techno track with a very distinctive siren noise that builds throughout the track before dropping back to the rolling bassline and techy industrial beats. Only given to 3 DJ's so far - Fanciulli, Pete Tong and Steve Lawler - and they are hammering it!
Look out for the full release on Beatport on 12th January 2009. As well as Andy Chatterley's remix are mixes by Tim Green and DJ Wady & Patrick M.

Cr2 in Amsterdam (ADE Conference)

Last week saw the 13th Amsterdam Dance Event take place in the heart of the city (and what a fantastic city it is!).
ADE is arguably THE biggest coming together of everybody

Spread across 3 days, and based in the Felix Meritis - the European Cent , European Centre for Arts, Culture and Science - the atmosphere is frantic as everyone grabs their opportunity to quickly catch up and swap sampler CD's, talk deals and discuss matters of business.
Also running in the panel rooms are various discussions on topics such as 'A Guide To The World Of Music Synching', 'Perspectives of publicity', 'pondering on publishing'
But whilst lots of good business is done during the day, the many, many parties that take place at night across Amsterdam at all of the main clubs also provide a good opportunity for networking and building relationships which can often lead to new opportunities.
Cr2 hosted their 3rd ADE party, this year at Club Zebra. This 500 capacity club provided 2 rooms and an intimate setting for friends of Cr2, industry contacts & fans of the label to come together and party the night away - and what a fantastic time was had by all!
DJ's on the Night were: Mark Brown, John Dahlback, DJ Jeroenski, Arno Cost, Gold Ryan & Tapesh, Damian Wilson, Delicious, Norman Doray...and special surprise guest Micky Slim!
So, here we are back home and unscathed (if a little exhausted!) - and this week we have been wading through the piles of CD Samplers and Demos that we collectively acquired to see if there are any tracks for the label to sign, or new artists to be looking at.
Cr2's main man - Mark Brown, has been attending the conference pretty much from day 1, and he feels that this was the most successful ADE so far.

Cr2 Sign John Dahlback!
John Dahlback is a name known to many for his productions, his remixes and being the label owner of Pickadoll Records. He is classically trained and lives in his native Sweden (where the likes of Eric Prydz, Steve Angello, Sebastian Grosso and Axwell also hail from). It is remarkable to believe when listening to his debut album - 'Winners & Fools' that he is only 23 years old!
His recent track 'Pyramid' which includes a massive remix by Dirty South can be purchased in the Cr2 shop by clicking HERE
Due for release on Cr2 in early October, you can watch the video for one of the tracks, 'Everywhere', which will be included on the album, below.
Look out for more news soon about the album.

Madness in Macedonia
Well, this is the first of many posts to come from me - Damian Wilson - A&R Manager at Cr2 Records.
I'll introduce myself properly on the next post, but want to tell you about a painful 24 hours that would make you smile...
It all started last Wednesday night, having to work late at home to put the final touches to the Danny Rampling compilation we're releasing in August on Cr2 Records. I finished working around 2am and had to be up at 6am for a flight to Sofia in Bulgaria for a DJ gig for Ministry Of Sound Tour in Skopje, Macedonia.
I arrived at Gatwick airport with loads of time to spare and meet the tour manager for the gig, Will and proceeded the check in. Once we had checked in the girl informed us that the flight would be late in taking off, expecting her to say an hour or so, only to find out it was going to at least 5 hours before any information would come through on the flight. The reason?? There had been an explosion at a military base near Sofia airport and they had to cancel all flights in and out for the who knows how long.
Now Will and I are thinking that the drive from Sofia to Skopje is around 3 hours so needed to get on a flight sooner than later. He called the MoS office who proceed to book us on a flight to Greece, phew it's all good we'll get there in time for the gig!!!!
After a relaxing plane ride to Thesseloniki we were meet by Igor the driver whom was on the Bulgarian border on his way to pick us up from Sofia before having to turn around and drive to Greece. The drive through the mountains was a long 3 hour drive, but we got moving and made up some good time. As we arrived in Macedonia we were meet by an amazing Lighting storm that we could see for miles. As we got closer to Skopje it started to rain, then pour, then it started to feel like someone was constantly throwing a bucket of water of the windscreen. With the car sliding a little and me nearly jumping out of my seat on a few occasions when we passed some big trucks we arrived in Skopje in one piece.
Both Will and I were getting a little tired from the traveling but had to head straight to the club to get the banners and inflatables up to only find out that the venue was open air!!! We walked into the club which was filled with puddles and people frantically drying the dance floor and bars. After putting the production up we headed to the hotel for a rest, but after checking in and given rooms on the sixth floor we were told that the lift didn't work due to the rain.
After dinner and drinks in a local bar we arrived at the club around midnight, I did a couple of interviews for the local TV and press and started playing around 1am. The club was nearly full with 1200 people on the dancefloor and after playing for 50 minutes and only about 10 tracks the bouncers rushed up to the dj booth telling me to shut the music off. Thinking that the police were outside and the music was too loud (being an outdoor club) we would be back on with 5 minutes. Well 5 minutes came and the crowd were getting restless, then after 10 minutes there were boos from the crowd and still no-one telling me what was going on, then after 15 minutes people started to leave. What started to a great night after a difficult day turned into a miserable night for the clubbers. We later found out the a rival security firm who normally works the club started some trouble outside and then bought it into the club to shut the event as they weren't involved. A bit chaotic but you don't really want to mess with those type of people.
We heading back to the hotel to walk back up to the sixth floor I got a call from the promoter asking if I could nip down and see him (I am was starting to get used to those 6 flights of stairs) for him to explain what happened and that he was sorry. I could see he was really upset that the club had shut early.
Finally I crawl into bed around 3.30am (that was early as I was meant to finish in the club around 5am). After a couple of hours sleep we had to get up at 6am to get the car back to Sofia (thankfully the airport was open now) for our flight home. After being dropped off at the Bulgarian borders to get a lift from someone else we arrived at Sofia airport with an hour to spare before the flight and only 15 minutes to check in, we realised that we had been dropped off at the wrong Terminal and the next bus was another 20 minutes away. Frantically we ran around the taxi's asking if they took Euro's and eventually found someone who actually took to the other Terminal for a fiver (yes thats right 5 pounds sterling!!!).
Well it certainly was an adventure, 3 countries in 24 hours, a wet club and cancelled night, hopefully the next one for the Ministry of Sound Tours will be somewhere local!!!!
I'll post a couple of pictures up when i get them from Will but to be honest we didn't take many as we thought the night hadn't really started before it was shut down!
In my next post I'll be giving you an idea on what I do at Cr2 Records and where I came from!!!!

Another Pete Tong Essential New Tune for Cr2!

He played the Eddie Thoneick Classic Mix, and gave it a real big up saying 'Trust me, this works!'. For those that are not aware of the track, it is destined to be a big one for the summer - it's a rather catchy house re-work of the classic Jodeci R&B track 'Freak 'N' You'.
Available on 12" 21st July, but if you would prefer to download the MP3 version then you can CLICK HERE
